For the last 10 years of teaching as a World Language teacher for elementary students, I have had the great privilege of having my own classroom. I LOVE my classroom and have worked very hard transforming it into a special place that transports students to a whole different world in our school where they learn to speak Spanish and French, and are immersed in other cultures.
This year, one of the new Covid 19 restrictions is that the students must stay in their homeroom classrooms, so I have become a travel teacher and now have the great challenge of bringing my World Language classroom to all of my students.
Are you a travel teacher this year?
Here are some tips to keep the excitement of foreign language learning alive as a travel teacher:
Decorate a cart and prepare it well!
Because our school has 3 floors, I purchased 1 cart from Amazon (see below)
Teacher Travel Cart from Amazon
But, I realized quickly that I needed another cart for the classes on the other floors. So, I borrowed a lunch cart, covered it with red and blue plastic table covers and I just carry the bins and caddies up and down between the 2 carts. It is EXHAUSTING (haha), but at least I am getting my workout in each day! 😊
Prepare the cart with:
Dry Erase Markers and a Dry Erase eraser
Hand Sanitizer
A water bottle for you!
Your Lesson Planner
Some bins for the activities
Some caddies for the materials
Plan for some great portable lessons and activities
1. Task Cards
Task Cards are a great activity for students to do. Print out a set for each student on computer paper.
If they don't have their own scissors, make sure to put them on the cart.

2. Word Walls
Introduce new words with word cards. Below are some resources to check out!
